Dr. Mark Goldberg, Director of UH Jewish Studies
Cuban Jews in Miami in the 1960’s
Hear Dr. Goldberg’s story about race and Jewishness and the way Cuban Jews became accepted by white Miami Jews after their initial rejection. They gained respect after presenting themselves as worthy community members and including women and other gender roles.
Professor Goldberg teaches courses in Latinx history, early America, Jewish Studies, and the history of race and ethnicity. In 2018, he was awarded a Teaching Excellence Provost Core Award.
