GHS Will Celebrate 1920s Suffragist Movement at “Hear Us ROAR!” 2016 Gala
Get ready to “Hear Us ROAR!” at National Council of Jewish Women, Greater Houston Section’s 1920s-themed Suffragist and Speakeasy Gala on Saturday, November 12, at 7 p.m. The 28th annual gala will be held at the Plants and Petals Design Studio Warehouse, 1 North Sampson Street in the EaDo section of Houston, transforming it into a 1920s-style speakeasy. Houston sisters Ellyn Haikin Josef and Jennifer Haikin Zach will be honored with this year’s Robin Perlo Berry NextGen Leadership Award for their exemplary service and contribution to the Houston Jewish community and beyond. We will also honor past NCJW GHS gala chairs.
“Hear Us ROAR!” celebrates the power of women to rock the vote with a fun-filled evening featuring an elegant cocktail menu and sophisticated dining options, plus dancing to the David Caceres Band’s 1920s standards, gaming tables, and a silent auction. Gala co-chairs Kristina Boshernitzan and Nicole Longnecker welcome guests to don their vintage 1920s garb to add to the fun.
Funds raised from this event will help fund NCJW GHS’s many community service projects, including Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse (AVDA), Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY), SEARCH Homeless Services’ House of Tiny Treasures, Back 2 School Store, and Human Traffick Stop NCJW Provisional Supply Bank.
